Our educational mission is very important to BBPL's success and is an integral component of our laboratory's value system.
Many of our pathologists have dual faculty appointments in the University of Missouri's Department of Pathology and BBPL
is a clinical affiliate of the University of Missouri-Columbia, University of Nebraska Medical Center, the Rosalind Franklin
University of North Chicago and Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis. In these programs we are responsible for providing
educational and scientific opportunities for pathology residents and fellows, clinical laboratory scientists, life sciences
research technicians, pathologists' assistants, cytotechnologists and phlebotomists.
The W.R.Bynum Medical Arts Institute, Inc. is a not-for-profit (501(c)3) organization that provides training related to
the healthcare industry. The clinical, medical and life sciences fields of study are the primary focus. The current programs
include training for Pathologists' Assistants, Clinical Laboratory Scientists and Phlebotomy Technicians. Students participating
in any of the training programs supported by the Institute will be eligible to apply for financial aid. Eligibility requirements
are established by the Board of Directors and scholarly activities and high GPA in biology, chemistry, physics and biochemistry
are very important criteria for success. However, the financial need of an applicant and the Board's perceived commitment of the
student and their abilities to advance the fields of molecular diagnostics, anatomic and clinical pathology and clinical laboratory
science are evaluated as well.
