| Preferred specimen: |
5 g stool in 10% formalin vial. |
| Notes: |
Cryptosporidium, Cyclospora, and Cystoisospora are the only parasites detected by this stain. For other parasites, order Ova and Parasites Exam, Stool (order code 7141). |
| Unacceptable specimen: |
Stool specimens submitted in preservatives other than 10% formalin or unpreserved stool specimens. Frozen specimens. Specimens other than stool. |
